Rata Vine Tree – Greeting Card

Description

There are two kinds of Rata trees in New Zealand (pronounced rah-tah). This is the Northern Rata which begins as an epiphyte, growing on top of another tree then sending its roots down like vines. Eventually it covers and smothers the host tree but by then the rata has grown huge and strong enough to stand alone.

The Southern Rata is a regular tree that grows from a seed in the ground. Its bright red flowers make a stunning display among the otherwise green bush in summer.
