3D Paintings Title Image by Jacquelyn E Lane

These 3D or sculptured paintings grew out of my love of both sculpture and painting. When I decided to become a professional artist I intended to start with oils but the books I read claimed that despite its difficulties, watercolour was a better teacher so I began with that. With so much to learn and experiment with in watercolour it was sixteen years before I tried oils with ‘Trees come out at night, don’t they?’ It was also the first of my experimental sculptured paintings using mixed media. Likewise, all the paintings shown here, are also oils on mixed media except for Tree Dancer, in which the mixed media relief sculpture is painted with acrylic.
